Abstract Flexible and stretchable electronics present opportunities for transition from rigid bulky devices to soft conformal systems. However, such technology requires mechanical design integration strategies enhance robustness form factor. In addition, scalable reliable fabrication pathways are needed facilitate the high volume manufacturing required satisfy a growing market demand. This report describes recent advances in design, manufacture, reliability of flexible technology. concept physiological monitoring introduced, before discussion throughput electronics, then hybrid conventional components on carrier substrates with an emphasis need further developments device testing procedures. Finally, consideration is given options more eco-conscious constituents. These cases progress towards robust, fully integrated, unobtrusive incorporating sustainable components.
